Kevan Brian – New EnviroSim Team Member

EnviroSim is delighted to announce that Kevan Brian will be joining the team at our Ontario headquarters in August 2018. He comes to EnviroSim from his current role in consulting based out of Melbourne, Australia. Kevan is a long-term BioWin user and has 20 years’ experience as a wastewater treatment process engineer working in New Zealand, Australia, and in the UK. He brings a wealth of experience in BioWin modelling, calibration, treatment plant optimization and engineering consulting, as well as skills in business management.

User Group Meeting : June 18, 2018 at Starhotels in Bologna, Italy

EnviroSim will be participating in a User Group Meeting together with HR Wallingford and Innovyze on Monday June 18, 2018 at Starhotels in Bologna, Italy. There will be presentations on various topics from design to management of sewage systems, purifiers, aqueduct networks and waterways. Users will be presenting their experiences using InfoWorks and BioWin simulation applications. The User Group Meeting is free to attend but participants must register by sending an e-mail to italia@hrwallingford.com by June 13, 2018.

EnviroSim Releases BioWin 5.3

The EnviroSim team is pleased to announce the release of BioWin 5.3.

BioWin 5.3 contains a new Granular Sludge Sequencing Tank element to model this process, which is gaining acceptance worldwide as an effective wastewater treatment technology. BioWin 5.3 also contains an enhancement to the trickling filter element and refinements to model parameters.

  • Adjusted scaling of two-sided hydraulic loading factor switch in Trickling filter element.

Graphical Issues Following Microsoft Update

A few days ago, Microsoft released a patch that seems to be causing graphics issues for some users. The graphical issues may manifest as “black bands” that appear when you click on white space in BioWin’s drawing board as shown in the screen capture below.

Further Biowin 5.1 Speed Enhancements

BioWin 5.1 was released in early October. The main feature of the new version is the game-changing speed improvement, for both steady state and dynamic simulations. We’ve had great feedback from many users. Soon after the release of BioWin 5.1 we issued a patch. That was mainly to correct an interaction between BioWin and the BW Controller that popped up under a certain set of conditions – something that had escaped us in testing.

EnviroSim Releases BioWin 5.1

EnviroSim Associates is pleased to announce the release of BioWin 5.1. Building on the successful history of the BioWin line, BioWin 5.1 continues to provide rigorous mathematical models for wastewater treatment plant process simulation.

The primary focus of this release has been to improve both steady state and dynamic simulation speed, particularly for (a) large flowsheets incorporating many elements; and (b) systems incorporating biofilm elements (e.g. media bioreactors in MBBR and IFAS configurations, submerged aerated filters, trickling filters, etc.).
